magnus AND untamed, you say

I am at:
- Ep 34 of the Untamed, I watched seven episodes today and cried for at least half of them, I have SO MANY FEELINGS
- Mag 176 ("Blood Ties") so I'm just skimming the mag 170 and 164 tags a LOT
- going to get SO MUCH FANDOM pumped into my brain whenever I hit the end of either of them and I am just. Peachy keen to get going.
Man, though, the untamed is so good [if nightmarish about women]. I want to SCREAM forever, fannish obsession feels amazing.

Date: 2021-02-04 09:03 am (UTC)I'm reading the novel version right now and enjoying it in very much the same way, in no small part because it is so long, but also because its comperably explicit relationship feels a lot like a fannish retelling--except that it is of course the source material. But one thing that surprised me is that the show actually does better by the female characters--it gives them stronger arcs and more space to exist on-screen. Which I suppose is an underhanded complement, but here we are.

The length x intensity is very fannish, yes! It feels like a very rare piece of media insofar as the characters are actually changing in and around the relationship as it's happening, it's not just revelations about past influences, which feels like a complexity that I can really only think of novels/novel-like fic. I love it. Also, women aside (huge asterisk on that comment), I'm so pleased to hear that the novel is enjoyable in same/more ways!
