I hardcore felt that feel when I watched The Untamed. I don't participate in fandom much these days, but it has that incredible intensity of feeling--so angsty and compelling and long, a work to drown in; it had that fannish-obsession feeling for me without actually engaging in fandom.
I'm reading the novel version right now and enjoying it in very much the same way, in no small part because it is so long, but also because its comperably explicit relationship feels a lot like a fannish retelling--except that it is of course the source material. But one thing that surprised me is that the show actually does better by the female characters--it gives them stronger arcs and more space to exist on-screen. Which I suppose is an underhanded complement, but here we are.
