Very underhanded indeed. I don't know enough about cultural
imperatives/context to know if I should be surprised by that at all, but I
think disappointment remains a pretty solid response.
The length x intensity is very fannish, yes! It feels like a very rare
piece of media insofar as the characters are actually changing in and
around the relationship as it's happening, it's not just revelations about
past influences, which feels like a complexity that I can really only
think of novels/novel-like fic. I love it. Also, women aside (huge asterisk
on that comment), I'm so pleased to hear that the novel is enjoyable in
same/more ways!
