Might you say that "race in our own image" is also very much parentage, but about a mimicking/extending rather than creating a "better" race? (still clarifying to myself) Possibly this is a holdover from my Asimov days, though? In Caves of Steel, there's an explanation that human-shaped robots made sense because then you didn't have to make a smart tractor, basically, you could just have a robot drive the old fashioned tractors. Which to me reads like the same abilities in a different body, vs/ the new shapes & abilities of genetic visions.
